About the Project
As part of the Oxford University Graduate Library Trainee programme, all trainees are required to undertake a project for the year which will benefit the library and it’s readers.
There is potential for a project involving the creation of an FAQ page on the library website; It seems that an FAQ page, offering essential information about the Bodleian Law Library, would offer an accessible first point of call for essential information for new students and those visting for the first time. During the initial ideas process the idea of an FAQ developed from a building simple text based information page to creating something which is possibly more engaging such as audio and video information. Tours of the library have already been developed for the website I decided that a similar multimedia aproach could be used to create the FAQ page. This way the information can be accessed from the library website via an FAQ section but also distributed on facebook, twitter and the blog making the information even more widely accesible.
The Bodleian Law Library is already heavily engaged in the world of web 2.0, with facebook, twitter and a blog; already up and running. So project focusing on social media in libraries didn’t have much potential except for repetition but of course there is still always scope for intergrating any project with these social media applications as a means of hosting the final product or promoting it to readers.
